Omicron Ship Management, managers of bulk carrier OMICRON EAGLE (IMO No. 9375927, Flag: Liberia), report that on April 4th their vessel, sailing from Brazil to Amsterdam and Hamburg, loaded with grain, was contacted by the French Authorities off the coast of France and asked to divert to Dunkirk.
Upon arrival at the port of Dunkirk the vessel was searched thoroughly by the authorities; no drugs were found onboard. The crew were interrogated ashore and returned to the vessel which was cleared, on April 7th, to continue her journey, arriving in Amsterdam on April 8th. The Omicron Eagle is scheduled to sail from Amsterdam to Hamburg on April 10th.
Three members of the Omicron Eagle’s crew remain in custody in France.
Omicron Ship Management immediately activated their emergency plan, notified all pertinent authorities and have been in close contact with the French authorities assisting them in their investigation from the very first moment.
